Scope
This standard gives an overview, terminology, and categorization for Wearable Consumer Electronic Devices (Wearables). It further outlines an architecture for a series of standard specifications that define technical requirements and testing methods for different aspects of Wearables, from basic security and suitableness of wearing to various functional areas like health, fitness, and infotainment, etc.
Purpose
Wearables are gaining popularity among consumers and are foreseen to become a significant category of consumer electronics. Standardization efforts for Wearables are needed to direct the industry to provide secure and reliable products to satisfy consumer needs. This document provides an overview and architecture for a series of standards that defines technical requirements and testing methods for wearable devices and their functions.
