Description / Abstract: This document specifies procedures for the Markov Service Option (MSO) and procedures for the Flexible Markov Service Option (FMSO).

The MSO is used to allow verification of the physical layer performance frame error rate (FER) of the cdma2000 Fundamental channels. These technical requirements form a standard for the two-way Markov service option. This standard does not address the reliability of Markov service option, nor does it cover equipment performance or measurement procedures.

The FMSO is used to allow verification of the physical layer performance frame error rate (FER) of the cdma2000 Fundamental channels. These technical requirements form a standard for the two-way Flexible Markov service option. This standard does not address the reliability of Flexible Markov service option, nor does it cover equipment performance or measurement procedures.

The document is organized into the following sections:

• Chapter 1 defines the terms and notations used in this document.

• Chapter 2 provides a general description of the MSO and describes the detail procedures and operation of the mobile station and the base station for the MSO.

• Chapter 3 provides the message format for MSO.

• Chapter 4 provides a general description of the FMSO and describes the detail procedures and operation of the mobile station and the base station for the FMSO.

• Chapter 5 provides the message format for FMSO.

Annex A to Annex C are for the support of Markov Service Option.

• Annex A is an informative section that outlines a procedure for conducting a Markov test. It also shows the use of the transmit and receive counters for estimating the Frame Error Rate (FER) for the Forward and Reverse Fundamental Channels.

• Annex B is an informative section that provides examples of setting up a Markov call in the CDMA system using service negotiation.

• Annex C is an informative section that shows examples of data block generation.

• Annex D to Annex F are for the support of Flexible Markov Service Option.

• Annex D is an informative section that outlines a procedure for conducting a Markov test. It also shows the use of the transmit and receive counters for estimating the Frame Error Rate (FER) for the Forward and Reverse Fundamental Channels.

• Annex E is an informative section that provides examples of setting up a Markov call in the CDMA system using service negotiation.

• Annex F is an informative section that shows examples of data block generation.
