Description / Abstract: This Practice describes the minimum requirements for permanently mounted top- and side-entering tank mixers installed in nonpressurized, flat bottom tanks or vessels. Mixers are used to create a nearly homogeneous fluid in a tank or vessel.
This Practice does not cover requirements for process agitators, mixers, or agitators with steady bearings for shaft stabilization. Portable and clamp-on, light duty agitators, in-line and jet-type mixers, and high-speed dispersers are also not covered by this Practice.
A tank mixer data sheet, RESM002-D or RESM002-DM, is included with this Practice. This data sheet may be used to communicate purchaser requirements; however, supplemental information may be necessary to fully define process requirements.
