This powerpoint presentation begins by presenting a brief overview of the presentation, including the following: new epidemiology studies;regulatory context and constraints;balancing and simultaneous compliance;regulatory development;possible regulatory implications;issues needing clarification; and, which regulatory approach. Presentation conclusions indicate the following: analytical techniques are becoming moresophisticated, but are still in research stages;we are able to see very low levels of many DBPs;occurrence data are limited because of the absenceof standards and robust analytical techniques thatcan be used nationally;lack of these analytical methods also limit studies onmechanisms of formation and on treatment;health effects studies are not keeping up with theanalytical work;we need to continue the research to better understand theseemerging DBPs relative to the "established" DBPs; and, respective indicator value relative to epi findings is critical.
