Full Description
This paper begins by providing a brief overview of the Dublin Road Water Plant (DRWP) located in Columbus, Ohio. Project objectives were toupgrade the DRWP capacity from 65 to 90 mgd, meet existing and proposed regulations fornitrate, atrazine, and disinfection byproductcontrol and total organic carbon (TOC),consider innovative processes, and tominimize capital and operations andmaintenance costs. Project challenges includedexpanding the plant within current site constraints, maximizing the use of existing facilities, maintaining plant capacity during construction, andconsidering Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) approvability. Upgrade and expansion analysis included a three-phased approach ofcondition assessment, feasibility study andpilot testing. Pilot testing includedthree alternatives: Dissolved Air Flotation Clarification, Solids Contact Softening,Recarbonation, Filtration, Sidestream Reverse Osmosis; Enhanced Microsand Clarification, Filtration, Reverse Osmosis; and, Immersed Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis. Includes 4 references, figures.Product Details
