This powerpoint presentation presents four task groups, including the following:Low-lying countries (deltas), Chair - Gertjan Zwolsman (Kiwa Water Research, NL);Retreating snowpack,Chair - Paul Fleming (Seattle Public Utilities, USA);Arid conditions, Chair - Chris Davis (University of Technology, Sydney); and,Mitigation,Chair - Daniel Nolasco (Nolasco associates, Canada). Task group activities are presented and include the following:goals - information exchange andidentification of "best" practices for adaptation/mitigation; and,possible activities - drafting of a position paper (feeding into WWF5, 2009), contributions to newsletter, website and discussion forum, andorganization of training courses and workshops, etc. The International Water Association (IWA) November 17-18 Amsterdam Workshop adaptation/mitigationobjectives include the following:discuss position papers of the Task Forces onadaptation of utilities dependent on snow pack water resources,adaptation of utilities to a drying (arid) climate,adaptation of utilities in low-lying countries (runoff, sea level rise), andmitigation measures (reducing carbon footprints of utilities); prepare a statement for WWF-5 on behalf of IWA; and,prepare an IWA position at WWF-5 and CoP-15.
