This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the AwwaRF-National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Climate Change Primer that helps with developing a structured process to include the consideration of climate change into decision making. A decision analysis approach is presented that includes problem structuring and deterministic analysis along with global climate models. The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) in southern California is presented as an example of a utility that is facing major water challenges and has used this decision analysis approach. Key ingredients of the modeling approach are presented and include the following: range of temperature andprecipitation trends fromGCMs;"downscaled" weathersequences reflective oflocal conditions and GCMtrends;water management modelsupply, demand, andreliability under range ofscenarios; and, ananalytic engine andmethodology to evaluatescenarios and guide policyformation.
