This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of recent climate trends for the western United States. A survey of 39 utilities was conducted of impacts to planningcriteria and design standards - document planning criteria. Project approach included:evaluate planning criteria used for water supplyreliability, water demand projections, and sizing offacilities and AWWA design standards;assess how existing planning criteria and designstandards may be modified; perform case studies withContra Costa Water District,Los Angeles Department of Water and Power,San Diego County Water Authority,Seattle Public Utilities, and theAustralian approach;conduct workshop to vet findings; and,develop framework for climate change evaluation onplanning criteria and design standards to enable other waterutilities to assess vulnerability to climate change.
