Description / Abstract: Purpose. Determination or definition of the indentation (deflection/deformation) and settling characteristics of flexible floor carpet assemblies (carpet, mass back and insulation), especially in the foot well, foot rest and rocker-surrounding areas, caused by the application of a static force.
Applicability. This standard applies to all floor carpet assemblies with flexible/yielding acoustic insulation materials. The carpet insulator materials include, but are not limited to, foam, fiber (dissipative carpet constructions) and cotton shoddy. In addition, this specification applies to floor carpet assemblies with both the insulation layer as Part of the Assembly (POA) and as a separate component (non-POA).
