The 1986 Safe Drinking Water Act amendments have increased the likelihood that water systems in violation of the act will be subject to enforcement action of some kind. This article discusses the basis for this conclusion and suggests some strategies for coping with the anticipated change in the enforcement climate. Includes 11 references.
