Full Description

The objective of the study described here was to find statistical relationships between taste and odor descriptors and specific volatile organics in recharged groundwater. It was shown that the recharge process itself, as well as treatment, improved the organoleptic quality of the water. The volatile organics load decreased significantly during recharge and nitrification but increased again during oxidation steps. Thus, the improvement in organoleptic quality cannot be related to a change in total organics load but rather to the fate of specific compounds during treatment. Includes 10 references, tables, figures.
