Full Description

Droughts of 1987 and 1990 resulted in unprecedented tests of the capacity of the watershed sources to provide for the existing population of Vancouver, British Columbia, raising concerns regarding the consequences of continued population growth. These droughts have led the Greater Vancouver Water District to commission a series of studies in order to assess the water supply capabilities of three watersheds, as well as provide direction for drought management. Although there is a perception that Vancouver is water-rich, the reality is that the region is seasonally water-short because of storage limitations.
