This paper addresses one area of pipeline maintenance, pipe joint rehabilitation. Rehabilitation has inherently taken a large share of a maintenance budget. This paper explains a relatively new method, the AMEX-10/WEKO-SEAL Internal Sealing System. The internal seal is a mechanical leak clamp, consisting of a preformed rubber seal that is installed on the inside of the pipe, sealing against the pipe wall on either side of the joint. The seal and its retaining bands are designed to fit the specific pipe diameter.
