Full Description

This slide presentation outlines information on an annular reactor study on theeffectiveness of ClOsub2/sub incontrolling biological growthin open-air basins. The objectives of the study included: studying the effectiveness of ClOsub2/sub in controllingbiological growth in open air basins(HPC, AODC, Chlorophyll-a);compare Clsub2/sub and ClOsub2/sub; and, chlorite, chlorate, bromate, disinfection byproductformation. Results of the study include: both continuous and intermittent ClOsub2/subpotentially at least as effective as Clsub2/sub incontrolling biological growth;about 70 g/L AOX and 25 g/L TTHMdue to Clsub2/sub ; TTHM 10 g/L for ClOsub2/sub; and, bromate formation below detection limit. Also, a pilot study is discussed that studied the effect of pre-ClOsub2/sub on:coagulation, settled turbidity, UV-absorbance, TOC;ozonation, UV-absorbance, residual ozone, DBP; and, filtration, particle count, headloss, turbidity.
