Full Description

The Green Valley Water Treatment Plant (WTP), located in Suisun, California is operated by the City ofVallejo Public Works Utilities Division and sources raw water from Lakes Frey and Madigan(local lake water), and the Solano Irrigation District (SID) via Lake Berryessa. In 2005, the City ofVallejo issued NOVs to the community served by this 1-MGD WTP due to violations of the U.S.Environmental Protection AgencyStage 1 Disinfection Byproducts Rule (DBPR) for TTHMs. To address the TTHM violations, theCity had already commenced installation of a Magnetic Ion Exchange (MIEX) resin pretreatmentprocess to reduce treated water TOC levels prior to free chlorine disinfection. When this processcame online in January 2006 it was the first full-scale application of the MIEX process on asurface water in the United States. Includes reference, tables, figures.
