Full Description

Managing water resources has become increasinglycomplex, requiring water managers to balance theneeds of people, industries, and ecosystems whileensuring the sustainability of finite supplies. At thelocal level, the integration of water supply, wastewater, and stormwater management is becomingmore and more important to utilities. Total watermanagement (TWM) offers water providers a holisticapproach that depends on stakeholder participationand input to develop equitable and optimal watermanagement solutions. With water supplies for municipal and industrialuses increasingly stressed in terms of both availabilityand quality, it is clear that more proactive and comprehensivewater resource management is necessary toensure continued viable water supply sources. UsingTWM and some of the more innovative approaches foroptimizing water supplies can help ensure long-termwater availability while providing significant cost-savings.Furthermore, by implementing TWM strategies, utilities are more likely to meet complex regulatoryrequirements.
