This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of animal feeding operations (AFOs), concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), AFO wastes and characteristics, and potential impacts of AFOs on water quality. Regulatory history is presented, along withCAFO Rule requiring all CAFOs to: be permitted as apoint source; develop plans for storing, using,and disposing of animal wastes; and, toprepare annual compliance reports on wastedisposal practices.AwwaRF Project #3020, "Source Water Protection for Concentrated AnimalFeeding Operations: A Guide for Drinking WaterUtilities", is presented, along withstrategic control measures for AFOs, strategies for water utilities, and several case studies.
