The planet is warming, and many scientists agreethat the rise in temperature is human-made. However,science has not developed a model to predict the effectsof increasing temperatures. Still, water utilities can andmust plan for the uncertainties of climate change andits effects on water supplies and operations.The findings of a comprehensive case study, conductedby the East Bay Municipal Utility District inCalifornia on strategies to mitigate and adapt to climatechanges, are presented in this article.Water utilities must include climate change inwater supply availability and resource planningand can use this case study as a framework. Theinformation presented in this article is applicable tolong-term water supply planning and can assist withdecision-making. Includes 3 references.
