At the time of this writing virtually the entire world is facing a situation where plastics supplies are insufficient to cover demand. This paper will concentrate on the "major thermoplastics" family, which is defined as polystyrene, low and high density polyethylenes, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, and acry1onitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resins.
