HI-85-32-2 -- Heat from an Old Coal Mine in Sweden
Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1985

In stock
An old closed coal mine in southern Sweden is partially filled with water. It serves as an almost infinite heat source for a heat pump, since the water temperature is about +9°C all year. A nearby boiler plant for a district heating system earlier used 100% oil for its heat production. A heat pump was installed in 1983 and today it operates together with the oil-fired boilers. Since the heat pump was installed, oil-consumption has been drastically reduced.
