Presents a study focusing on the potential energy and cost savings with the introduction of spectrally selective glazings to the residential retrofit market. Uses numerical simulation to define the relationship of energy cost, peak demand and chiller size to glazing performance characteristics for five cooling-dominated climates in California. Discusses the cost-effectiveness of various material and installation retrofit options. Also gives glazing material improvements for retrofit applications to achieve a prescribed cost saving.
