Describes a unique heat pump system whose outdoor panels can exploit ambient energy surrounding a building for its heat exchange. Describes its operation in heating and cooling cycles. Reports the application of the system to a building and its performance monitoring. States that with a seasonal performance factor of 3.5, the system is estimated to be more efficient than solar-powered cooling systems. Heat collection is possible with no need for defrosting. Examines possibilities for further performance enhancement.
