With a greater emphasis on a combination of different and often conflicting performance measures, the processes, systems, and equipment being used in buildings are becoming more and more complex. To assist building operators there is a need for new online methods that will detect problems (faults) as they occur, determine which component or subsystem is failing or has failed, and recommend maintenance schedules and/or repair procedures.
