4055 (RP-736) -- A Fundamental Study of Refrigerant-Line Transients: Part 2 - Pressure Excursion Estimates and Initiation Mechanisms
Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1997

Notes that dangerous pressure excursions have been associated with condensation-induced shock and vapour-propelled liquid slugging. However, some of the mechanisms responsible for initiating these hydraulic transients in industrial refrigeration systems are unclear. Describes specific shock initiation mechanisms, an analysis for estimating the pressure excursion of a shock and a method for avoiding one possible path to hydraulic shock in refrigerating systems.
