The variety of standards available for interoperability in the building systems market should provide our industry with a firm foundation for delivering benefits and value to end users. Unfortunately, after a decade of hard work, these standards are only beginning to deliver as promised. The problem in many cases is that risk, cost and perceptions collide as systems are specified, bid and installed.
