Secondary refrigerating systems can produce significant reductions in primary refrigerant charge, and carbon dioxide is the most efficient and effective secondary refrigerant so far discovered. This article discusses the use of carbon dioxide in plate freezers, heat exchangers, ice rinks, supermarkets and air conditioning systems.
